Influx of competitors for 2007 season

The Avon Tyres Caterham Superlight Challenge is enjoying its biggest influx of new competitors for several seasons.

In addition to the many drivers planning to move up from lower divisions of Caterham racing, several newcomers are also planning to take part. They include relative novices Steve Ross, who has bought the Superlight of former Eurocup Champion Jamie Constable and who will race with the Ultimate Motorsport team, and Glen Denny, who has joined Clive Richards' Colards Motorsport team for 2007.

Last year's double Roadsport Champion, Gary Halcrow, will be one of Denny's Colards team-mates. He moves up to Superlight power in company with fellow former Roadsport men Clive Coote, Ron Johnson, Sean Nash, Chris Bialan and David Bend.

Among the experienced Superlight racers planning to return are 2005 Champion Will Mitcham and the marque’s leading lady exponent, Rachel Green. F1 engine builder James Gardiner will be back on track also, as will rapid Scotsman Doug Scott. The reigning R400 Champion, Pat Gormley, is also moving up to Superlight power for 2007, with 750 Motor Club double Caterham champion, Peter Ratcliff, is planning a UK campaign also.
